Grapefruit was a very happy accident, when two species (sweet orange and pomelo) were unintentionally crossed creating a hybrid. It was given its name due to the clusters that the large fruits form in the trees, similar to grapes, and became known as “the forbidden fruit.”
Well-known for its cleansing and purifying properties, Grapefruit essential oil is used in skincare products as well as cleaning products. To extract the essential oil, the grapefruit peel is removed from the fruit and cold pressed.
